Mid-America Management Corporation

The Mid-America Management Corporation utilizes Intuit Real Estate Solutions' (IRES) comprehensive software system to manage their diverse portfolio.

The Mid-America Management Corporation had been using two different software systems for both their property management and accounting functions across their diverse portfolio. Unfortunately using two systems was inefficient, and Mid-America wanted a single platform for their portfolio management. They soon learned that integration is a hallmark of Intuit Real Estate Solutions.

“We were using both Skyline and Rent Roll for different parts of our business and we could never get the two programs to work together,” says Sharon Veverka, Controller at The Mid-America Management Corporation. “We have a mix of residential, commercial, retail and industrial properties and wanted one system that could handle all of them.”

Mid-America began to look for a software system that could integrate all of their properties, particularly with its more than 6,000 residential units. Finding a software provider with an adequate residential solution became a key priority.

“We looked at number of systems, only a few of which could meet our demands and IRES rose to the top,” says Veverka. “It came down to a decision between IRES and Yardi, and we chose IRES.”

By using IRES, Mid-America has been able to streamline some of their processes and increase efficiency. “We were able to decentralize our Accounts Payable invoice input function. Previously everything was input at our corporate headquarters. With IRES, each remote site is able to do their own invoice entry,” says Veverka.

Creating customized reports has been a benefit of MRI according to Jeannie Franz, Accountant at The Mid-America Management Corporation. They had become accustomed to using Rent Roll reports. IRES was able to work with Mid-America to create a standard library of IRES reports familiar to Rent Roll reports but with IRES' more robust functionality.

“With IRES we are able to create and customize financial reports,” says Franz. “Our president wanted a different financial statement format for each type of real estate we own. IRES allowed us to create many different formats of financial statements.

The people at IRES have been helpful, especially in working with us to create some complex reports for our residential sites,” concludes Franz.
