Green Property plc
Green Property plc, based in Dublin, is a leading property development and investment group. Green is also a leader when it comes to Information Technology. They were the first organization in Ireland to work with property management software developer, Intuit Real Estate Solutions (IRES, formerly MRI) and the first MRI for Windows installation in Europe.
"In 1994, Green Property was using several basic accounting software applications that each did bits and pieces," explains Roddy Kilduff, Financial Controller for Green. "This disjointed system could not provide the kind of information and processing we required."
Green Property chooses IRES in 1994
"We made the brave decision to buy IRES' DOS software suite even though they had never sold to anyone in Ireland and didn't have a lot of customers at that time in the United Kingdom," he says. "However, the IRES system was very strong from the accountancy side and second to none to anything else in the industry in 1994. IRES was also making the best sounds as far as bringing a Windows version to market.”
Other important factors in Green's decision were IRES' reporting power and flexibility, and the ability to import and export data through Microsoft Excel. To support Y2K compliance and significant internal growth, Green made another brave decision four years later-to be MRI's first Windows installation in Europe.
The IRES system streamlines operations
"IRES allows us the flexibility to see only the data we want to see and ignore the data that we have no interest in. We can design the screens to suit ourselves, and to suit different individuals within the organization. Using IRES allows us to know what's happening and understand our portfolio very quickly and easily.
"In addition, the IRES system eliminates a significant amount of administration and manual intervention," he says. "We took over a portfolio in the United Kingdom and using IRES has allowed us to rationalize the administrative content and cost significantly.
"Without a shadow of a doubt, the people in IRES and the relationship we have built with them is very important to us."
