Dolben explains further: “We were looking for a centralized Web-based system because we wanted one database to manage. We wanted to combine data in real-time across portfolios. With the decentralized system we had prior to IRES, we couldn’t effectively get the data in and out.

“For example, our on-site staff always had to make calls to the home office to find out the status of accounts payable transactions,” he says, “which is an inefficient use of people resources. With the Web-based MRI Residential, all sites can perform and access their own accounts payable data entry.”

Prior to selecting IRES, The Dolben Company had been using decentralized solutions including Skyline for accounts payable and general ledger processing, Rent Roll for onsite property management, and Quicken for bank statement reconciliation, according to Walker. “As we narrowed the field down to IRES and Yardi, we looked for service and responsiveness,” continues Dolben.

“We wanted to be comfortable that we were getting what we thought we were buying.
