Edward Rose & Sons of Kalamazoo, Michigan, a developer and manager of multifamily property, selected Intuit Real Estate Solutions' (IRES) MRI Residential suite for their property management operations due to the reputation of the company and the functionality and ease of use of the software.

Previously, Edward Rose performed all of their property management functions manually. To streamline their operations and become more efficient, they decided to use MRI Residential. But having done everything manually, the change to the computers would be an expansive undertaking.

“We were unfamiliar with the particulars involved with a property management software system,” said Jeff Barnum, Manager of the project. “But IRES helped us understand the various options available. They were attentive and focused on our needs.”

One of the biggest factors in their decision making process was functionality. Edward Rose & Sons has a number of complex internal controls and policies that any new software would have to work with.

“We didn’t want to change our policies for the software,” Barnum explained. “ We wanted the software to change to meet our policies.”

Other factors included ease of use and the reputation of the company itself. Edward Rose & Sons enjoyed the ability to customize the software. They are able to change or add menus, names, functions and anything else so that MRI Residental works the way they want it to.

Barnum was also looking for an experienced, stable software management company with a strong reputation. After a diligent and extended search, Barnum found what he was looking for in MRI Residential.

Barnum visited with key executives, sales and support people in IRES' Cleveland office. They discussed the company, software, support and any other information they needed to make a decision.

“We felt, after visiting with everyone in Cleveland, that IRES was more attentive to us and our needs, and that would continue after buying the product,” Barnum said. “We talked to other property managers and to references and they had glowing reviews for IRES.”
